Responsible for general and daily machine cleanup, chip and shavings disposition, and proper disposition of used tooling. Inspects the work produced by using various types of handheld measuring equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges to check dimensions to specified tolerances. Loads bar stock into bar feeder and makes machine adjustments to accommodate for bar stock changes. Makes minor changes in machine setup, such as changing inserts, tooling, and making offset adjustments to maintain sizes and shapes of the work produced. Physical Effort: Lifting up to 44 pounds is required in lifting and carrying tools and materials. Prolonged standing and some bending, stooping, and reaching are also required. Incumbent is exposed to danger from sharp cutting surfaces of tools and operating parts of high-speed machinery, and regularly faces possible injuries ranging from cuts, bruises, and minor fractures to the loss of fingers, hands, and eyes. Working Conditions: Work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated shops; Exposed to noise of machinery in operation and is subjected to dirt and grease from oily surfaces of tools and parts.
